Flourishing Work LLC is excited to introduce Christine Zhou, who will be interning with founder Ashley Freeman over the summer months to help with business development, marketing, and operations. Together, Ashley and Christine are working to serve the community to do exactly what the company name says — help people, teams, and companies flourish in their work. Without further ado, here is an introduction to Christine:

Welcome, Christine! I’m so excited to have you on board this summer. What are you most looking forward to about this internship?

Thank you, Ashley! I’m so excited to be joining you. It would be easy to respond to this question by saying I love to learn new things, but I was particularly drawn to how much Flourishing Work LLC is focused on personal development. I haven’t declared my major yet, so I’m very much still at the stage of deciding where to take my career. I consider myself a very positive person, so I’m looking forward to exploring how to make the workplace better for everyone.

Will you share more about where you’re from, where you go to school, and what you hope to major in?

I was born and raised in New Zealand, but I go to Oxford College of Emory University. I am currently on the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) track, but I am also passionate about English and art, so possibly a double major in either of those. That’s why I hope this internship will lead me to my passion somewhere along the way, and help me decide!

When you’re not at school or working, what do you like to do in your free time?

Thank you for asking! I have to say I do a lot outside of work and school. I love doing traditional art, especially pencil art, and I try to do some every day. I also love singing, and I picked up guitar early on to accompany myself. If I’m not doing either of those things, you can find my reading a book by a sunny window.

Who or what would you say inspires you the most in your personal or professional life?

My biggest inspiration is my parents. As first generation immigrants, they started with nothing and worked so hard to establish their careers in New Zealand while raising three children! I am so lucky that they encourage me to pursue whatever I’m passionate about. That being said, I am always inspired by these kinds of stories of “everyday superheroes.”
